About Scott Hegenbart Originally from Sioux City, Iowa, Scott's musical talents were recognized early on when his parents caught him performing “Harper Valley P.T.A.” for his grandmother at the tender age of four. They subsequently agreed to the piano lessons he’d been begging for. Not long after that, he tried writing songs. (Mercifully, most of these early efforts have been forgotten.)

Although very active in music through high school, Scott chose to study Chemistry and Speech Communication at Iowa State University in Ames. (He still can't make up my mind what he wants to be when he grows up.) While earning his bachelor’s degree, he performed with the folk group Mother John until they went electric. (A tragedy in more ways than one.) He also did a brief (really brief) stint as a vocalist for a short-lived (really short lived), eclectic rock band known as the Breaded Mushrooms. He also was active in both ISU and local theatre groups. In 1983, Scott made his "professional" debut as an entertainer at Adventureland Amusement Park in Des Moines, IA.

Although fate forced him into finding a real job after college, Scott has done his best to remain active as both a songwriter and a performer. He made his solo debut performing original material in 1988 at the Quality Hill Playhouse in Kansas City, Missouri.
